#TBRTakedown 2.0: My Very First Read-A-Thon

Hullo guys,

Shannon from Leaning Lights on YouTube started Hashtag TBR Takedown as a way to get through one’s TBR quicker. This is the second edition and it runs from 25th of July until the 31st. Seven days to read as many books as you possibly can.

I’ve never done a Read-A-Thon before and I was pretty apprehensive at first about taking this on. But I realized that I’m gonna be sitting at home, idle as always and maybe I should read fewer James & Lily (Jily) fics while I recover from a dislocated knee.

So without further ado, my TBR for #TBRTakedown 2.0 along with the daily challenges:

TBR Challenges:

  1. First Book in a series – Every Day
Kindle Read.

Kindle Read.

Ah, for this I’m gonna finish reading Every Day by David Levitan. I’ve received an ARC of Another Day (the sequel) and I need to read the first book (obviously). So for the first book in the duology (which is counted as a series, shhh) I’ll be reading Every Day.

  1. Sequel Book in a series – Clockwork Prince
My E-Reader didn't let me take a good pic.

My E-Reader didn’t let me take a good pic.

So back in November 2014, I picked up Clockwork Angel (The first in the Infernal Devices trilogy) and I really liked it. It was certainly better than The Mortal Instruments Series and so for the second book in a series I’m gonna be reading Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. I’m really excited for this one too.

  1. Out of your comfort zone (genre, author, reviews, etc.) – The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
A Trilogy in Four Parts

A Trilogy in Four Parts

For a book out of my comfort zone I’ll be picking up the first book in the trilogy in four parts – The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. I started this book in February this year and didn’t get past fifty pages cause it’s an all-in-one book and I couldn’t carry it to and from college. Also, this is my very first foray into proper Sci-Fi and some of the jargon just flew over my head. I hope I can rekindle my interest in this one.

  1. On your shelf over a year (or the longest) – The Earth Hums in B Flat

The oldest unread book on my shelf actually is the entire LOTR series which I borrowed from a friend back in 2013 but it’s too heavy to read on trains and carry around and I’m too impatient to read it slowly. I bought The Earth Hums in B Flat at a sale during my college fest with about six or seven other books, all of which are still lying unread. Sigh. But this seems to be a fast paced book? (Or so I hope) and I’m hoping to cross it off my TBR.

  1. Most recently hauled book – The Scorpio Races

races and after

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stievfater will be my third book by the amazing author. I’ve read and loved The Raven Boys and The Dream Thieves. I’ve put it on hold because I don’t want to forget it all before The Raven King comes out NEXT FEB *cries*. TSR is not my most recent book, that would be my copy of Throne of Glass but it is the most recently borrowed book from a friend and I am SUPER excited to read this one and start with Maggie’s other books already.

Other Books on my TBR:

Other than these five books, there are an additional three I hope to tackle since they are kinda short:

  1. Finding Paris by Joy Preble

I’ve been meaning to start this book since Monday (20th) but kept putting it off in favour of 82k words of fan fiction every day. It’s a really short book, not even three hundred pages. If I call myself a bookworm, this should be a fairly quick read for me.

  1. Tessa Ever After by Brighton Walsh

races and after

This is an ARC I received from the author from a twitter giveaway. But it had to be delivered to the US and so my friend got it down for me only recently (mid- June) so it also counts as my latest book haul of sorts.

  1. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

smoke and bone

This is the newest book on my kindle and has hit the topmost spot on my TBR lottery. I doubt I’ll even get to read it but oh well, what goes in trying eh? This book is here to mix things up a bit so I don’t get awfully bored and go banging my head against a wall or anything.

#TBRTakeDown 2.0

Also, The Summer of Chasing Mermaids is free to read (until July 30th) on PulseIt but only on the laptop, so I might give that a whirl too.

Are you taking part in the #TBRTakedown this time? Link me to your posts!

Until next time,

Nia Carnelio.
